Let the computer sing, the jspoems at the m13 cibercafé assembles fragments of a fake documentary set in a Berlin internet café in the late 1990s. Across CRT screens, telephone lines and rented minutes, poems run, cellular automata spill between monitors, and commands, failing to execute, begin to sing in several languages. Performances, overheard conversations and stray email headers accumulate in an imagined archive of early network culture, through which the work of keeping a connection open can still be heard. As a printer feeds out a message whose sender has already disconnected, somebody lends the next voice a chair; the refrain changes language halfway through, carrying an instruction nobody in the room remembers giving.
